Naturally, I couldn’t resist looking into it further to see what secrets this mask might be holding.
What Is the Automaton’s Mask?
The Automaton’s Mask can be looted from an Automaton in many different areas. Here I found one in Litumnia at the Engineer’s Guild, just past the boss (Ingenium Engineer).
Here is what an Automaton looks like:
After defeating it, you will get 20 mask shards. You’ll need 300 shards before it’s automatically turned into a mask that your character can wear.

You deal more weapon damage through heavy attacks. You also gain immunity to Sick while Awakened.

Deciphering the Binary Code
Being the curious gamer that I am, I decided to translate the binary code. Converting it from binary to text spells the word:
“Brain”
But what does this mean? Is it just a quirky Easter egg, or is there more to it within the game’s lore?
The Significance of “Brain”
The game doesn’t explicitly explain what “Brain” refers to, but we can speculate a bit:
- Connection to Automatons: Given that automatons are mechanical beings, the term “Brain” might reference artificial intelligence or the central processing unit that controls them.
- Hidden Lore: It’s possible that this is a hint towards deeper lore currently in the game or upcoming in the DLC that expands on the story behind automatons.
