What The Red X Icon Over Your Gear Means

So, you’re excited to try out that new weapon or mask you just found when suddenly – bam! – you spot a small red X at the top of the icon.

It’s the game’s way of saying, “Hey, buddy! You might not be quite ready for this item yet.”

What Does the Red X Actually Mean?

  • The red X appears when you don’t have the required stats to use an item to its full potential.
  • You can still equip and use the item, but it won’t be nearly as effective as it could be.

Think of it like trying to swing a massive ultra greatsword when you’ve got noodle arms. Sure, you can lift it, but you’re not exactly going to be slaying enemies in half, you know?

How To Fix The Red X Problem

I’ve got a couple of examples to share with you that’ll make this whole stat requirement thing crystal clear.

Example 1

The Massive Dulciana Weapon

This bad boy of a weapon caught my eye, but yep, you guessed it – another red X.

  • The Massive Dulciana only requires 30 points in Elementalist.
  • Sounds simple enough, right? I thought so, too until I realized I only had 28 points (left column in red). Just two points shy!

Example 2

The Guise of Arlecchino Mask

  • The Guise of Arlecchino requires 20 points in each stat: Bruiser, Assassin, Elementalist, Trickster, and Battlemage.
  • If you take a closer look at the right side panel (You have to cycle through the info), you’ll see where you’re falling short.
  • In my case, I only had 16/20 Assassin points and 16/20 Trickster points.

So, what can we learn from these examples?

  1. Check each stat carefully: Some items might need points in multiple stats. Others, like the Massive Dulciana, only need one high stat.
  2. Use the info panel: Cycle through it to see exactly where you fall short.
  3. Plan your leveling: Now that you know what you’re missing, you can focus on boosting those specific stats.
